In an article published on 6/12 in Informed Infrastructure, KMI International Founder, CEO, and Chairman John Manning is quoted discussing how KMI International employs such practices as property condition assessment (PCA) and drone documentation services to help client properties be prepared ahead of severe seasonal storms. Deploying drones allows the company to survey properties to look for potential weaknesses storms might exploit. KMI International’s Disaster Recovery Department also advocates for storing important documents off-site—including blueprints, drawings, and timestamped photos for use during the recovery phase. Digital backups should also be made.

Following a hurricane, KMI’s Property Condition Assessment team’s audit process entails taking post-disaster photos and videos of the property. In addition to dealing with water damage itself, the post-storm work also must include a plan to alleviate mold and microorganisms, which thrive in moist environments. The project management assessment process by KMI International also includes cost estimates for structural repairs as well as liaising with insurance companies to ensure fair settlements.

“Hurricane season will soon be upon Florida once again,” said John Manning, Founder, CEO, and Chairman of KMI International. “While we cannot stop those powerful storms from occurring, it is well within our control to be adequately prepared ahead of the storms to enable a much faster and less costly recovery.”
