At KMI International, building goes far beyond structures, it’s about strengthening the communities where we live and work. Through our employee-driven initiative, KMI Cares, giving back is embedded in our culture and aligned with our core values: do the right thing, work as a team, always be professional, project confidence in relationships, and maintain accountability.
In recognition of National Volunteer Week, KMI is proud to highlight the impact of its employee-owners who consistently step up to serve. Whether volunteering time, lending professional expertise, or supporting nonprofit partners, KMI’s team understands that meaningful community engagement creates lasting value.
“KMI Cares is about more than volunteering—it’s about genuine connection,” said Lindsey Matthews, HR Manager and KMI Cares Lead. “Creating opportunities for our team to engage with the community in ways that are fun, interactive, and meaningful makes giving back feel natural and rewarding. When our employee-owners show up for others, it not only supports those we serve, but also strengthens who we are as a company.”
KMI’s community partnerships reflect a commitment to supporting diverse needs across Central Florida and beyond. Through ongoing engagement with organizations like Give Kids the World Village (GKTW), KMI team members help GKTW create joyful experiences for children and families facing critical illnesses. Volunteer efforts range from on-site support to participation in fundraising initiatives that directly impact the organization’s mission.
The firm also supports Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, where employees volunteer their time to assist with food sorting and distribution, helping address food insecurity in the region. These hands-on efforts reinforce the importance of teamwork while making a tangible difference for families in need.
KMI’s commitment extends to advancing inclusion and accessibility through its relationship with the Center for Independent Living of Central Florida. Notably, Michelle Long, Director of Marketing at KMI, serves on the organization’s Board of Directors, further strengthening the firm’s connection to initiatives that empower individuals with disabilities to live independently.
Additionally, KMI proudly supports the Universal Orlando Foundation, contributing to programs that enhance education, community development, and nonprofit capacity throughout the region.
These partnerships are not one-time efforts, they are part of a sustained, strategic approach to community engagement. KMI Cares encourages employee participation year-round, fostering a sense of ownership not only in the company’s success but also in its broader social impact.
As the themed entertainment and construction industries continue to evolve, KMI remains focused on building environments that inspire, and that mission extends beyond project delivery. By investing in people and communities, KMI demonstrates that true leadership is measured not only by what you build, but by how you give back.
During National Volunteer Week, KMI invites others across the industry to join in making a difference, because strong communities are the foundation of every successful project.
