Cement Prices
Cement prices rose 0.7% in September, following a 0.3% increase in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ producer price index. Annual escalation for the index sits at 10.9%, up from 10.8% the previous month. ENR’s 20-city average monthly price for masonry cement declined 1.1% in November, while yearly prices increased 16.6%. All types of ready-mix concrete and all types of crushed stone experienced both monthly and yearly increases in November. Prices for portland cement rose 2.1% since October, while yearly prices have increased 21.6%.
PVC Pipe Prices
Prices for PVC pipe products rose 0.8% in September, after falling 0.1% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ producer price index for plastic construction products, which consists largely of PVC pipe. The annual escalation sits at –4.2%, up from –5.2% the previous month. ENR’s 20-city average price for both types of copper water tubing experienced yearly increases in November. Monthly prices for 6-in. ductile-iron pipe rose 0.1%, while yearly prices increased 27.5%.
Plywood Prices
Plywood prices increased 0.1% in September, following an increase of 1.4% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ producer price index. The annual index sits at -13.0%. Prices for pine 2x4s are down 3.9% from October 2022’s level, while monthly prices experienced a 0.2% decrease, according to ENR’s data. ENR’s 20-city average monthly price for plyform rose 1.6% in November, while yearly prices experienced a 5.2% increase.
Aluminum Sheet Prices
The price for aluminum sheet fell 1.1% in September after rising 0.8% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ producer price index. The annual index sits at -5.6%, up from -6% the previous month. ENR’s 20-city average monthly price for reinforcing bars fell 0.2% in November, with yearly prices increasing 9.1%. Both types of stainless-steel plate experienced yearly increases in November, according to ENR’s data. Monthly prices for hot-rolled carbon-steel plate decreased 1% this month, while yearly prices experienced a 7.8% increase.
